The Wait is Over, Microsoft Office 2016 Arrives!

On September 22, Office 2016 will be released to the public and the anticipation is high. A preview version was released earlier in the year allowing Office enthusiasts to try it out and provide feedback – constructive or not.

The pattern of the official release will differ between consumer users and businesses, as well as depend on the type of licence you have. The first people will receive the update on the 22nd of September. Others may have to wait a little longer before systems are updated and the roll out completed.

All About Collaboration

Familiar with the co-editing capabilities of Google docs? Office 2016 allows real-time co-authoring. This means both you and your team can enjoy real collaboration by working together on the same document. Fast, spontaneous and effective.

More IT Capabilities

Users of Office 365 ProPlus have raised a number of IT requests and here is the great news – the new Office includes Background Intelligent Transfer Service, Data Loss Prevention across the Office 2016 apps, Multi-factor Authentication and other mission critical control capabilities.

Smart Applications

New smart applications are available across the Office suite, including “Tell Me” and “Clutter”. “Tell Me” is a search tool available in Word, PowerPoint and Excel that serve up the commands you need by typing what you want to do. Similar to Siri for all your Apple users. “Clutter” is an Exchange feature in Outlook that analyse your email patterns and de-clutter your inbox intelligently. This is somewhat similar to how Gmail tries to give more prominence to the most important emails.
Improvements across the board

Of course there will be some changes in the look and feel of the Office Suite. However, overall users will experience improvements across the board. Both more technical improvements, as well as improvements that will benefit the overall user experience of Office 2016. If you have any questions about the new functionality, feel free to reach out. Our support team is ready!
